Inside Nordic Poetry
It’s that wonderful time of year again, when party-goers descend upon their Glastonbury’s, Isle of Wight’s and Secret Garden Parties in full festival spirit. Each year, we take our festival fashion cues from the Queens of Coachella and Glastonbury; Kate Bosworth, Alexa Chung, Florence Welsh, Gigi Hadid, Sienna Miller and Vanessa Hudgens! Whether you’re going for whimsical 1970’s boho vibes with fringed suede, a flowy top and elaborate flower crown, or your look is a little more grunge, a-la Kate Moss and her leather trousers, circa 2008 Glastonbury – Nordic Poetry have got all the goods to have you kitted out in style.
After it’s well educed coma, we’ve successfully revived the 70’s. We welcome back suede skirts, denim dresses, cotton crop tops, flared jeans, platform shoes, loose fitting Indian summer dresses. London is definitely excited for this summer’s reunion.
Many names flew about during the “Swinging Sixties”, however one name proved predominant over all others, Raymond ‘Ossie’ Clark. Ossie was a young fashion designer that made his mark with his elegant and feminine gowns. He considered women to be goddesses and his ability to capture the beauty of a woman’s silhouette within the realm of fashion put him in great demand. Manolo Blahnik had once said “He created an incredible magic with the body and achieved what fashion should do – produce desire”
Vice Magazine features Nordic Poetry. Been a while since we’ve blogged at Nordic Poetry, but we’re back on it. The Shop at Boxpark Unit 11 is going very well…thanks for asking. It’s given us a lot to think about, and now with our new spring collection just to about to be launched at www.nordicpoetry.com, we’re pleased to have had some of carefully chosen cloths featured in this months VICE magazine, pick up a copy, it’s not half a bad read neither!
At Nordic Poetry, occasionally…just occasionally believe the Monday post party weekend malaise requires medicating. So what better response than to head out to Dalston’s Birthdays and go get HEALTH. For those that have know idea what I’m talking about, then let me introduce you to ‘Health’, a four-piece project led by Jacob Duzsik. A band that originated from the L.A art space ‘The smell’, producing clangorous primal guitar, against tribal drumming, raw synth and tripped out melancholic vocals.
Up and coming artist LeaLea Jones was recently photographed by Scott Smith, of Design Vertigo, for German magazine Tail wearing exclusive Nordic Poetry clothing. Having recently finished her debut album, set for release in September 2013, LeaLea is well on the way to becoming a music sensation. Her music has a cinematic feel, with plenty of big brass, bass and mellow jazz vocals.
We were recently asked by the one and only Little Boots if she could borrow some clothes for the music video of her brand new single “Broken Record” which is set to come out this May. Of course we obliged and were very kindly invited to the shoot. So the Nordic Poetry team got our skates on and went down to check out our clothes in action!
Pilots. They just aren’t what they used to be. Call me crazy but Graham, the midl mannered, soft speaking gentleman on the end of the Ryan Air tannoy just doesn’t fit the bill for me./ We see these ‘pilots’ from time to time in the airport sauntering along in they’re dark blue captain jackets (that are always slightly snug around the midriff) whilst sipping on a caramel macchiato. Imposters I say!
It’s official, winter is here. The sky is grey and we can no longer leave home without a coat. But the term ‘winter coat’ doesn’t have to strike fear into your idea of a stylish winter wardrobe. At Nordic Poetry, we’ve got a huge range of wintery jackets that will be in tune with your wardrobe, can be dressed up or down, and can be layered as the weather gets even colder.
